Personal Information
In his tenth year of teaching, and after working in the field of energy engineering in the U.S. and Asia, George Bevington joins the faculty at The Walker School as Academic Dean of the Middle School.
A big fan of literature, the arts, and humanities, Bevington has had the opportunity to participate in two research grants on Mark Twain and Johann Sebastian Bach, to work as a counselor at international and academic summer camps, and to guide his students in constructing the first ever rain barrel in commemoration of Mark Twain. Before joining Walker, Bevington helped his former school reach an energy efficiency rating of 87% through the EPA's Energy Star energy benchmark.
In 2010, Bevington earned Teacher of the Year honors for the state of Georgia from the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust for his curricula on the Holocaust, and has received grants for his research in this area.
His interests include running, biking, traveling, reading biographies, and discovering new recipes. His lovely wife Kathleen and he attend Christ the King Cathedral in Atlanta. Prior to Walker, Bevington taught at Sophia Academy, Creekside High School, and the Thai-Chinese International School in Bangkok.
