The preschool years are important ones in a child's education.  Research shows that the quality of the preschool years influences reading ability, vocabulary levels, and various skills, especially mathematics (Rutgers professors, Camilli, Vargas, Ryan and Barnett,Teachers College Record, 2009/2010).  The preschool years provide a strong foundation upon which to build in the years ahead and create a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.  The preschool faculty participates in continuing education in order to keep Walker abreast of new developmentally appropriate strategies to ensure that each student is successful.  A combination of good content knowledge and a caring atmosphere where each child is valued as an individual builds student motivation, engagement, and confidence.  Technology with web-based software and interactive boards supplement the curriculum.  Please see the links below for more information or give me a call at 678-581-1099.  I would love to discuss our school with you!

The Walker Preschool provides a caring and nurturing environment where a love of learning is initiated with a strong academic curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for the young child. Self esteem, integrity, responsibility, and respect are valued and encouraged in an active, accepting environment, where creativity and curiosity is appreciated.

In the Walker community, communication and cooperation are important. Monthly newsletters, personal conferences, and narrative progress reports are a few of the ways parents are kept informed. Walker's Preschool faculty and administration work closely with the children and the parents to ensure the education of the whole child, including two musical performances each year and a Preschool Art Show.

At The Walker Preschool, we believe that young children learn best when they are actively engaged and enjoying themselves. Young children have a unique way of viewing the world, and they deserve an atmosphere which will allow for their full growth and development. In our Preschool, the children receive the foundation necessary for academic success in future years.
