Education

Todd Motter began his professional playing career at the age of 18 as a freelance trumpeter in the Atlanta area. Prior to receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Shorter College, he attended the University of Georgia where he was named a two-time collegiate All-American. Motter performed at both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles as well as the world premiere Grand Opening of the EPCOT Center in Orlando. Motter has performed all across the country with such notables as The O-Jays, The Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Lee Greenwood, and the Four Tops, to name a few. His lead trumpet work has also been heard on TBS and Sports USA television networks and on many Nashville and Atlanta-based recordings. In 2000, Motter was commissioned by the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra to arrange the song Mighty Spirit to be performed with baritone Mark Blankenship.

Prior to Walker, Motter served as the Director of Fine Arts at North Cobb Christian School and North Atlanta School Of The Arts, where ensembles under his direction regularly received excellent and superior ratings and gained area and national recognition. The Walker School Pit Orchestra received two Shuler Hensley “Certificate(s) of Excellence” for performances of The Music Man and The Drowsy Chaperone and both ensembles were also nominated for “Best Orchestra or Accompaniment” two consecutive years. In only two short years, Motter has earned four “Excellent” and three “Superior” ratings as well as achieving the Division Champions status in six different categories including Outstanding Band, Outstanding Percussion Ensemble, and Outstating Pep Band. Mr. Motter is an active member of Georgia Music Educators Association and MENC National Music Conference is still quite active in the performing music scene in Atlanta
